Man U Wins At Home For The First Time This Season

Manchester United finally got their first victory at home of the season against Bolton Wanderers. The score line was even in the first half with no goals from either side. Just in the nick of an hour or so, Ronaldo yet again showed his talent by diving and earning a penalty. His play was really disgusting and pathetic. I have always disliked Ronaldo for his filthy performances. The penalty should not have been awarded. Many a times I have expressed my views over Ronaldo. Last year he was the highest scorer in the Barclays Premier League. Every time Manchester United got a penalty, it was Ronaldo who took them. Hence, being the highest scorer means nothing when it comes to Ronaldo.


In yesterday’s match, Ronaldo was once again poor. Winning matters we all know but what about sportsmanship? However there’s no denying the fact that in the Manchester United’s second goal he assisted superbly but the finish by Rooney was even better than Ronaldo’s assist.


With five games played, Manchester United is now at the tenth position.

Christiano Ronaldo??

The only poster that I would like to hang in my room is of Christiano Ronaldo because I dislike him more than any other footballers in the world. I would probably stick his picture in my dart board or add moustache and beard in his face. People say that, in Manchester United’s victory Ronaldo had a lot to his credit, but I don’t see his role there. Had he not been in Manchester United, there certainly would be another one who would score goals. Have you ever noticed the number of goals he scored from the penalty spot and free kicks. Every time Manchest United got a penalty or a free kick near the D area, it was Ronaldo who took the chance.

Ok! I admit that he has some pace but he has no any kind of other special techniques. Look at Rooney, he has everything that a footballer needs to have. He defends, attacks and assists as well. But Ronaldo, he just waits in the goal line to score a goal. Another disgusting character of Ronaldo is that, he is lighter than a feather and the slightest of body contacts gets his grounded.

Finally there is a rumor of Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid and that’s very good news. With the line up of such good names in the world of football like Rooney, Van Der Sar, Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand and Tevez, Ronaldo doesn’t fit in the line up.

Whatever and however the world looks at Ronaldo, I don’t see any good qualities in him which a football player got to have.

A Glance At Euro 2008

Sixteen teams qualified for the Euro 2008 finals. They were divided into four groups. Group A consisted Czech, Portugal, Turkey and the host Switzerland from which Portugal and Turkey qualified for the quarterfinals. From Group B, Croatia and Germany moved to the next round. The group termed as the group of death had France, Netherlands, Italy and Romania. France and Romania were eliminated from the preliminary round and from Group D, Spain and Russia advanced to the next round forcing the defending champion Greece an early exit.

In the quarter final matches, Portugal played against Germany and was beaten. The second quarter final was the most dramatic match of the tournament which featured Croatia and Turkey. Both the teams could not score any goals in the regular time and thus the match was elongated for thirty more minutes. Just when the final whistle was going to be blown Croatia scored a goal and it seemed as if they booked a place in the semifinal. Not to happen though, Turkey pulled one back just in the edge of the second half of the stipulated added time. No one would have ever thought of this kind of dramatic come back. Eventually, Turkey went on to win the match in a tie breaker. The third quarter final match was also a shocking one for one of the favorites of the tournament. Netherlands were kicked off of the tournament by Russia, the team which has been coached by Guss Hiddink who has already taken Netherlands to the semifinal in the 1998 world cup and again took Korea to the semifinals in 2004. In the last quarter final, it was Spain who defeated the reigning world cup champions Italy in a tie breaker.

The semifinal featured Spain against Russia and Turkey against Germany. Spain thrashed Russia 3-0 in the same manner as they have done in the preliminary round. Germany narrowly defeated Turkey with a score of 3-2 , thanks to Lahm with the winning goal just before the final whistle.

The final showdown was now between Spain and Germany. The lone goal scored by Fernando Torres in the thirty third minute which was enough for Spain to be the champion. The final match was quite disappointing one from Germany’s point of view. The young, talented and well balanced Spain deserved to be the champions and after a couple of decades they finally won a big title.

The highest scorer of the tournament was David Villa of Spain with four goals which include a hat trick against Russia. The first goal scored in the tournament was the one scored by Mordich of Croatia against Austria via penalty and the last goal of the tournament went to Fernando Torres of Spain. Xavi Hernandez was the player who scored the 500^th goal in the Euro Championship.

Brock Lesnar

I am a big fan of WWE and Brock Lesnar was my favorite. All of a sudden Brock vanished from WWE and I heard that he is into some other sports. Yesterday, I was simply searching for MMA images and luckily I found Brock's video. I never knew that he went to the mixed marital arts and yes, that's the perfect sport he should be doing. WWE is not what Brock is all about. He is a real fighter and has been dominating the world of mixed marital arts scene at present.

Euro 2008 Semi-Finals

The big names in the world of football like Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Croatia and France were not able to make it to the semifinal. The biggest surprise package was Turkey in this Eruo 2008. The match was filled with drama. No teams could produce a single goal in the regular time and the match was elongated to 30 minutes of more play. In the dying minutes of the second half of the added time, Croatia scored a goal which seemed to be an assurance for them for a sit in the semi-final. Turkey came back strong with an equalizer in the added time of the extra time. Then was the time for the keepers to come into play. The Croatian strikers could not score from the spot and Turkish keeper Rustu saved the crucial forth Croatian spot kick and thus booked a place in the semifinal. They will play one of the powerhouses Germany.

The other semi finalists are Spain which is now the strongest contender for lifting the cup and another surprise Russia. Mind you, Guss Hiddink is behind Russia who led Netherlands to the semifinal in the world cup in 2000 and in the next world cup he led Korea to the semi final. He is a very strong influence in the world of football. We can’t ignore Russia in this tournament as well however they will be facing Spain which has already thrashed them 4-1 in the preliminary round.

The first semifinal features Germany against Turkey tonight as the Euphoria is almost coming to conclusion. I now strongly back Spain as they have been rated as the team which is unable to make an impression in big tournaments inspite of being such a huge footballing nation.

Manchester United Wins 2008 Premier League Title

Manchester United is yet again the champion. By beating Wigan Athletic with two goals to nil, Manchester United won their seventeenth league title and ten under Sir Alex Fergusson as the manager. On the other side Chelsea too had a very good chance of being the champion but Manchester United had to lose their final match against Wigan which thankfully did not happen.

Chelsea played against Bolton Wanderers and only managed to draw a single point which was not enough for them to hold the title. I was watching the live telecast of Chelsea against Bolton and before the end of the first half no teams could score a goal. On the other hand Manchester United had already gone up against Wigan in the first half. I was feeling the pressure as the score of one nil in the first half could never be regarded as an assurance for a victory. The cable channel too was updating with live scores of other matches being played. Suddenly Manchester United’s second goal was scrolling which was when I was relieved. Chelsea however had taken the lead but when time was running out, Bolton scored an equalizer. So this was the moment when I jumped in joy because Chelsea did not have enough time to beat Bolton and there was very less chance of Manchester United being beaten by Wigan. This is how Manchester United achieved their seventeenth league title.

Now Manchester United is just a win away from another title of the season. On 21^st of May, Manchester United will be playing against Chelsea for the UEFA Champions league Championship.

The premier league came to an end. The match which was totally out of the blue was the match between Middlesbrough and Manchester City. Middlesbrough thrashed Manchester City with a scoreline of 8 goals to one.

UEFA Champions League

It was great to see Gary Neville back in action for the first time of the season. In the final minutes of the second leg of the champions league semi-final, Gary Neville was brought in to the ground. Every time he touched the ball, the audience would roar which was one of the best moments for Gary and Manchester United fans.

Manchester United already had a heavy advantage on away goals. Man U had scored two goals to nil at Roma's home ground. This second leg played at Old Trafford did not have that much of pressure against the Man U players. With a wonderful cross from Hargreaves, Tevez scored the only goal to secure their place in the semi-final of the champions league where they would be facing another good Spanish team Barcelona. With this win, Manchester United have set a record of winning most matches at home in the champions league. Previous best record was held by Juventus of winning ten consecutive matches at home in the champions league.

Now that Manchester United have reached the semi-final of the champions league, they are in need of keeping that winning streak alive and eventually lifting the title. If only an English team could win the Champions league, the English fans would have something to cheer about because the upcoming Euro 2008 is not featuring England.

However the chances for an English team to lift the UEFA Champions league title is very much alive as the other semi-final match features and English team versus an English team, Chelsea against Liverpool. Among these two teams the later would be the number one favorite for most of the football fans outside England.

Another important thing about Manchester United is that, they are on the verge of winning two titles this season, Barklays Premier League and the Champions League.

Rockstar Supernova

Of a number of singers, Lukas was chosen as the lead vocalist of an upcoming band then Supernova. The band Supernova comprises of talented musicians and notorious rockers viz. Gilby Clarke on guitars, Tommy Lee on drums and Jason Newsted on bass who were former members of Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue and Metallica.

In the final stages of the Rockstar Supernova autidion, the competition was getting more intense with all the singers who were equally talented were left in the competition. The three singers left for the grand finale were Toby, Dilana and Lukas. Toby was impressive and his original composition was liked by all, Dilana was a rocking performer with true rock attitude and the only lady in the final three and lastly Lukas who impressed everyone with his own version of Bonjovi's classsic "Keep the faith."

Finally Lukas was chosen as the lead vocalist of the band Supernova. With almost a year since the band Supernova was formed, there has been no hits and no buzz in the music scenario. As far as i know, they had a lot of legal issues regarding the official name of the band because the name "Supernova" was already in existance. So they have been touring and distributing their labeled merchandises in the name of Rockstar Supernova.

The band Supernova or Rockstar Supernova legally has got bit names from the Rock and Roll and I was expecting a bang from them but to no avail. I am still very confused about their existance and so far have not heard any of their songs till date. I don't even know if they have released an album of singles. When I first happened to see the Rockstar audition, I thought they would be rocking the music industry but sadly they haven't been able to do what I had expected. Such big names of Rock And Roll are silent till date but hopefully they may come out with good and rocking numbers in the days to come.

Creed

Every band has its own story regarding the formation and signing a record deal with big companies. The story might go like this. Some three or four guys would meet up somewhere and due to their similar interest they would form a band and perform in the local gigs and pubs. They would one day be spotted by some label company’s personnel and would be offered to record an album. This is what the normal story goes. Some might achieve success and some might not.

The story of Creed also happens to be a very usual one with Mark Tremonti and Scot Stapp being friends for a long time decided to form a band. With two other members joining the band they formed Creed. They then released an album called "My Own Prison" which went to become a platinum album. The album had some great and catchy numbers which helped Creed gain maximum popularity. Following this hit album, they released two other albums "Human Clay" followed by "Weathered" which did very well in the market. After the third album "Weathered", Creed came into extinction and they no more evolve in the music scene.

There could be so many reasons why Creed became such a hit band in a short span of time. Scot Stapp’s magical voice could be one of them and Mark Tremonti’s terrific drop D tune in his guitar works could be another. Perhaps the lyrics and writing skills of Scot Stapp is another factor which made Creed a very hit band in such a shot span of time.

The extinction of Creed has also some reasons. As stated by the other band members, Scot is good only at studios and is very bad in doing live shows. So, the band members were not happy with Scot and this is the main reason behind Creed’s extinction.

But as far as I am concerned, Scot sang well and I really liked his voice. Tremonti’s guitar works suited him very well and Creed happens to be my favorite band of all time.
